2025 Coinsurance Lifetime Reserve Days 2025. Medicare lifetime reserve days limit the number of days that medicare part a will cover expenses for extended hospital stays. For each of these 60 lifetime reserve days, you’ll owe a copay of $800 per day, in 2023 (increasing to $816 per day in 2025), and medicare pays the rest of the covered hospital costs.
Medicare will cover 60 additional reserve days, and you will pay a coinsurance for each day. Original medicare covers up to 90 days of inpatient hospital care each benefit period.
